This has been annoying me lately.
You’re talking about music with some people you know. You mention a band you like or they notice a band tee you’re wearing. This was an occurance a few days ago.
I was wearing an Owl City tee. I have all of their CDs and have heard of their songs. I love them, and most people know them for their single “Fireflies” or maybe even “The Saltwater Room”. Someone comes up to me and says,
“Hey, Owl City? I LOVE THEM!” And I reply, “Oh, really? What is your favorite song by them…?” “..Fireflies, duh!” I sit there for a second. “Besides Fireflies… you can’t not like that song!” She paused. Yep. Got her. You don’t know any more of their music, do you? I thought. Then she spoke, and she was tapping her foot, pretending like she was thinking, “I can’t remember the title…”
Irk. I hate people who pretend to love something and they know nothing about the subject. Not just music either, but on any matter.
Why do you think people have the impulse to do things like that? That sounds petty, but seriously…? WHY?!
I love having WordPress to post my random rants even though they aren’t being read by tons of people. ^^;;

I agree 100%…theres this girl at my church and first it was 3oh!3 and then Owl City, and I dont know much of either but I know a few other songs than ‘dont trust me’ and ‘fireflies’ and she always goes on and on so one day I did the same thing you did, and she pulled that face that she gets every time shes got being stupid or ignorant (which is often…) I rather loved the experiance!!!
