I haven’t posted on here in ages, but I just got braces yesterday. I haven’t had headaches a lot but my gums are so irritated and I would love to have something besides soup and potatoes right now because I can’t chew to save my life. I have rainbow brackets and they make me smile~ :D

I miss everyone and hope all is well.

Music fads.

This has been annoying me lately.

You’re talking about music with some people you know. You mention a band you like or they notice a band tee you’re wearing. This was an occurance a few days ago.

I was wearing an Owl City tee. I have all of their CDs and have heard of their songs. I love them, and most people know them for their single “Fireflies” or maybe even “The Saltwater Room”. Someone comes up to me and says,

“Hey, Owl City? I LOVE THEM!” And I reply, “Oh, really? What is your favorite song by them…?” “..Fireflies, duh!” I sit there for a second. “Besides Fireflies… you can’t not like that song!” She paused. Yep. Got her. You don’t know any more of their music, do you? I thought. Then she spoke, and she was tapping her foot, pretending like she was thinking, “I can’t remember the title…”

Irk. I hate people who pretend to love something and they know nothing about the subject. Not just music either, but on any matter.

Why do you think people have the impulse to do things like that? That sounds petty, but seriously…? WHY?!

I love having WordPress to post my random rants even though they aren’t being read by tons of people. ^^;;

Social Networking

I’ve been so bored lately, and I’ve been trying to find something new to do online. Something like Facebook or Twitter, but not either of those. I’ve had bad experiences with those kinds of sites.

MySpace – deleted after 3 days of use.
Twitter – my friends never posted and I deleted my account shortly after.
Youtube – I was on there too much and decided to stop going on there so much after it infected my computer with a virus.
Blogger – was on there a lot last year with my friends posting almost daily but it died out eventually.

And tons of those little game websites you used to play on when you were younger…

Neopets – hacked many times after being an avid Neo veteran. Good times though.
Gaiaonline – hacked again, but found the site boring and bland after awhile.

I’ve gotten so many Facebook invites but I’m so skeptical of the idea. I’ve considered it before but I don’t that’d be the ideal place for me.

I’ve had sort of a hypocritical dislike toward social networking because I know they can be addictive and you can talk to folks, but I don’t know. I wanted something to do in which I could possibly have friends on the same site or something as well… I don’t know. I need something to do. Ideas for those who actually are reading? XD

It’s almost Christmas! YEA.

I’ve had a lot to type up today and I felt like doing it in seperate posts because my posts are too long anyway.

I have a story.

I went to Borders awhile back and picked up Harry Potter Should Have Died by Ben Scohen and Emerson Spartz. I’ve read it already and enjoyed it. But when I went to buy it at the cash register, the man there was shocked at my purchase. He starts off by jokingly saying, “YOU THINK HARRY SHOULD HAVE DIED!?” I stood there stunned, laughing for a minute thinking, Well, I don’t care one way or another because the series has ended… and it’s only the book I chose to buy and that is what it was titled… not my fault. So I conjured up something in rebuttal…

I think he should have because it certainly would have made it less predictable.

Then the “debate” began. His rebuttal, then mine, and so on. I had fairly strong arguments; it would have prevented predictability, prevented the epilogue that sucked, made it easier on JK from being pressured by fans to write an eighth installment… it went on for about five minutes, and there were people behind me in line waiting to purchase stuff.

So, our hands are on the table, almost in each other’s faces arguing… and he ends it with this remark -

“You think you could’ve written it better yourself?!”

THE AUDACITY. I told him I never said I could, and he goes off on how I implied it. He thought he won, so he gave me my change and we both laughed. It made me somewhat furious that he wouldn’t let me finish a sentence and his rebuttals had nothing to do with what I presented to him. He just thinks he won because he brought up a statement that I couldn’t respond to.

I’m not good at arguing. Neither was he; he was good at winning an argument by presenting something completely unrelated. I have friends like that, and it drives me mental.

New Moon (A LONG Rant)

It’d probably be best for you not to read this if you haven’t seen the film yet! (Spoiler WARNING)! Twilight lovers, don’t take this seriously, this is just my criticism. (Note that I loved the books at one point in my life.)

So my friends and I ventured to the movie theaters last night to see New Moon. Four of my friends and I went to see it – one of my friends being a guy who just wanted to go to make fun of it. One of my other friends and I went for that reason, and the two others girls enjoyed the books and wanted to enjoy the film. We were all expecting to laugh the majority of the time though.

Let’s say we had low expectations.

And I’m not going to talk much on the overall absurdly awfulness of the film, but certain aspects that annoyed me… anyone who has seen it, feel free to comment!

The cliff diving scene – my favorite scene in the entire book.  I expected it to be one of the more horrible scenes, and it was. Bella just randomly drowning, she looks about as real as the cliff and the water below it… Edward randomly materializes and just floats there with her – very awkward scene. Then Victoria comes swimming along like a wannabe mermaid from the fourth Harry Potter movie. Scared me to death.

I swear, 75% of the time Robert Pattinson is on screen, he is in slow motion. WHY!? He’s supposed to be a wicked fast vampire; does anyone else see the irony here?

The ridiculous running scene with Edward and Bella being vampires – Alice’s vision. This made the entire theater laugh. I don’t know what the director was thinking when they made this scene. I’m hoping they strived it to be a hilarious insert, but I fear that it wasn’t intended to be that way. They were both sparkling like the vampires they were; again, IN SLOW MOTION.

Awful effects overall – car scenes, awful flying stunts, and random blood; we’ll go in order. Any scene anyone is in a car, (mostly the scenes with Jacob and Bella) look pathetically greenscreened. You could tell the car was fake, and the trees were they were the SAME trees, mirrored on both sides. Every time they were in the car, they didn’t steer. Everyone’s hands stayed motionless, and you could plainly see in parts of the movie they were rarely ever on straight stretch roads. Any stunt with flying looked like they were just flailing in mid air. It could have been more graceful and positioned, but no. They apparently cared as much about stunts as they did placing blood. It looked fake, all the time. An example – Bella wrecks on the motorcycle. You see the blood coming from her hairline, but where’s the gash or the cut? It’s coming out of nowhere! The blood in the birthday scene was also poorly done as well. I was underwhelmed.

The only good actors/actresses had the smallest roles – Charlie, Jasper, and Jane. Potentially Aro, I couldn’t tell. Charlie had some of the best one liners in the whole movie – he was hilarious. I hated him in the books, (along with Bella’s school friends), but the movies are glorifying the annoying characters in the books in the movies, and I’m alright with that. Jasper had minimal lines as well, but whenever he spoke it was great. Jane, (Dakota Fanning) had less than five minutes of actual screen time, said less than 10 words, and managed to make it to the top of the list. Was Aro’s actor good? I couldn’t tell.

The motorcycle scene in Port Angeles – Bella goes off with a pedophile. I don’t remember this being in the book and it was just over the top creepy for me.

Edward needs to keep his top on. All the time. As my friend pointed out, he looks like a dead fish. It’s not a desirable sight to any rational teenage girl.

The ending – the entire movie theater was disgusted. “Marry me.” DONE. Screen goes black without even a second of staring at Edward’s face to take it in. No dramatic pause. My friend told us, “Well, what a cliffhanger. They’ll just have to start the next movie off with a resounding ‘YES’.” They have no choice, otherwise it doesn’t flow.

I couldn’t tell it was directed by someone new! The first movie was awful, and this one was worse. The first movie was directed by the same lady who directed The Nativity Story (Catherine Hardewick). I see no correlation with baby Jesus and vegetarian vampires, and you could certainly tell with Twilight’s quality. But there seemed to be a correlation with Hardewick and the new director because it struck me as almost similar – ridiculous camera angles that made no sense, too many unnecessary close ups on Bella’s quivering lips, Edward’s unpleasant face, and Jacob’s twitching neck, way too many random scenes of just silence, staring at Bella or another character… I could go on.

There is almost something that I indefinitely missed. I hope you all went to see it, because its absolute awfulness paid for my eight dollars of laughter with friends.

Ho hum. Reading and writing. Not much else.

So I haven’t posted in awhile.

As far as writing has gone for me recently, not so good. The journaling project I started at the beginning of the school year lasted longer than I thought, (as you could probably tell by that, yes, I did quit part way through despite my excitement and determination to finish). I made it to about day 40, with over 30,000 words. I managed to conjure excuses!

I really was excited for NaNoWriMo this year (if you have no idea what I’m talking about – nanowrimo.org)… and I wanted to put all of my attention on that during the month of November. I attempted this last year and made it out 10,000 words short. It was my first year attempt, what can I say? So I quit journaling and decided to save a year long school journal till my senior year when it’ll be extremely memorable. When I began NaNoWriMo, I managed to keep my word count up for less than a week, and then homework and social life murdered me, forcing me to get way behind. Time was not on my side. Then I just had to quit because my teachers HAD to give me tons of homework this month, including extensive projects, outside reading, and major major tests to study for.

So now I have two dangling stories I’m eager to start back up again… but not right now.

As far as reading is concerned, I have read some interesting stuff. One being Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns. I put it off until the last minute since it was school reading and read it in two days… I think that made me like the book less, though I still enjoyed it. Next was The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd which I really liked. Never seen the movie, but I might some day now because I enjoyed the novel. My friend also is making me read this elementary book he read ages ago called The Demonata: Lord Loss by Darren Shan and I’m not sure if I like it or not. Oh well. I also said ages ago I was read The Host by Stephenie Meyer… I did and stopped. My friends are going to murder me if I don’t read it… I keep putting it off!!

I’ve also got an account on Goodreads.com! People should totally comment if they have one, or if they get one and friend me! :D

And Project Runway finale was last Thursday and I was not fully happy with the winner, but I’m content. I wasn’t happy with the contestants at all this season, who were not as talented as previous. It starts back up in January so that’s something to look forward too.

And so it continues…

What I meant to do was post an entry to this journaling project once a week. It’s not that I’ve already giving up on it – I may be behind, but the project is still in full swing – it’s just that it’s turned into something more personal and it’s not so much as a “blog” anymore where I feel comfortable with everyone reading it as it is a journal for myself. Since I do talk about the people I know in these entires, I do not feel as if I have the liberty to post their names up on this strange fancy website either. I’m really enjoying the turn out of this project and I can’t wait to read through it at then end of the year if I make it that far. I didn’t think I’d make it to this week, and I’m typing today’s entry at the moment. I am on Day 15 – currently at 20,541 words. Thanks Ian for giving me the idea. Sorry to disappoint with no further entries about my exploits in the 10th grade.

I currently have Jason Mraz stuck in my head and it’s incredibly annoying. I love some of his stuff, but I don’t like it when songs you love just repeat and repeat in your head then you end up hating them. Oh well~ It’s not to that point yet.

I’m proud of myself for semi-consistently posting on my WordPress though. Not sure of the post’s relevance to anything but I enjoy it. Haha~

How is everyone’s life today? ^^

180 Days; The Night Before

I decided that this year I would try and keep a year long journal – a highly detailed journal of all my days in 10th grade this year. I don’t know why I’m doing this because 10th grade isn’t a substantial year, but it’s memories nonetheless and it keeps me writing. I have EXTREMELY high doubts of this lasting till the end of the year. But it’s worth the effort I put forth now. Ian suggested I post one up every now and then, so that’s what I’m going to do. It’s a different something to put on here than just blogs I suppose. ^^ Some of it may not make sense, but since this is more of a journal than a story, I don’t feel I have the need to elaborate on things.

The night before was a mess. Because of my lovely procrastination habits that continue to eat up my life, it is now 12:14am, the night before the day. Summer reading was a drag. I swear I must have said “society” and various synonyms of the words “events” and “instances” more times in that composition book than I would’ve in my whole life. I realized now I liked The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn more than A Lesson Before Dying, but that doesn’t make up for the tedious assignments I had to go through. When I finally got into my bed, it nearly ate me alive. I couldn’t sleep. I just kept swelling on all the possible outcomes of tomorrow. How would it begin? It wasn’t even focused on the rest, just that. I counted to 26 sheep then lost the interest even though I tried so hard to make each of them unique. I believe on had a beret and one more a tutu, but I’m not sure. My eyes were closed and I was lying there, but I just tossed and turned and threw my blankets about. I ran out of ideas and my lazy mind wasn’t producing much creativity after countless straight hours of monotonous work. I knew hours were floating by and I did not want to look at a watch. I was afraid. By the time my dad wandered into my room that morning saying, “Nicole, wake up, I let you sleep a little bit later, now hurry up,” I had been consciously aware since the very moment I covered my body in covers that I wasn’t asleep and I wasn’t going to get sleep. But, alas, I’ve now commenced my sophomore year in high school. Rise and shine.
